Asher Faerstein, MEd, RP
Registered Psychotherapist
Encountering painful moments and periods of hardship can bring us into contact with the most fundamental parts of ourselves.
As a therapist, it is an honour to work alongside individuals as they explore and make meaning of these moments. I believe that practicing compassionate curiosity (which I will model for you!) can allow us to develop a deeper, more easeful relationship with ourselves and others.
Clients come to me with a range of counselling concerns. Some areas of focus include trauma, trans experience, neurodivergent experience, and relationship issues.
I have supported a diverse clientele over the course of my work in the social services sector and in private practice. At various points in my life, I have also engaged in my own personal therapy, which allows me to better appreciate the value of a good therapeutic relationship: a safe container for cultivating insight, acceptance, and possibilities.
I hold a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from OISE/the University of Toronto, a Master of Arts in Gender Studies from Queen’s University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Interdisciplinary Studies in Sexuality from Concordia University. I am a member in good standing with the College of Registered Therapists of Ontario and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
